Collection: Aline de Nanxe
Travel through time and space with Aline de Nanxe's photographs.
An analog photographer with a love for film and paper, Aline de Nanxe has traveled the world to capture its faces, gestures, and places. Her analog road trips defy time. They began with a memorable journey aboard the Indiaman and continued on a mythical bus ride from London to Calcutta before immortalizing Iran and Afghanistan in the 1960s. Her work is a hymn to humanity, even in the most unexpected corners. From the streets of San Francisco to the waterfalls of Iguaçu, from voodoo ceremonies to urban life scenes in Singapore, her photos are the result of rare patience and a deeply empathetic gaze.
Her photographs have been published in several books, including Los Angeles Murals (Harenberg, Dortmund, 1984), National Treasures of the American West (Gallery Books, New York, 1987), Bolivia (Anaya, 1988), Brazil (Insight, Singapore, 1988), and America (Flint Press, 1989, translated into 18 languages). She co-founded the VDN photo library (Vautier/de Nanxe), which remained active until their separation in 1987.
Today, over 100,000 images make up the Aline de Nanxe Collection, carefully restored for by REIA photo library. Each print offered is a piece of history, a suspended moment that traverses the decades without losing its power.
